Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has attributed her absence from an informal meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Warsaw to "double standards" within the international community.

The meeting, held on May 7-8 and chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, did not see Georgian representation at the ministerial level.

In response to journalists' questions about her non-attendance, Botchorishvili emphasized that her government, led by the Georgian Dream party, was the “legitimate choice” of the Georgian people. “Double standards are everywhere. It is thanks to the Georgian people that we have this government. There is an approach with double standards. There is no democracy less than anyone else in Georgia, no democratic regression,” she claimed.
