MP Beka Liluashvil from the For Georgia opposition on Tuesday accused the government of serving the interests of a “select few families” rather than addressing the needs of ordinary citizens.

He lamented the exodus of young people seeking better opportunities abroad and asserted instead of tackling pressing issues, the government was complicit in alleged political corruption, acting as a mere “instrument for the benefit of a privileged few”.

He emphasized the economic roots of emigration, suggesting that poverty drove people to leave the country and insinuated the government’s reluctance to confront this reality stemmed from a fear of losing power, hinting at potential measures to disenfranchise emigrants.
