For the first time a woman became the head of the US Treasury

The US Senate has approved Joe Biden's proposed candidacy for the post of Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen.

It is noted that Yellen became the first woman to head the US Treasury. In 2014, she became the first woman to be appointed Chairman of the US Federal Reserve System (FRS).

Yellen said her top priority will be fighting the impact of Covid-19.

“We need to make sure that people in America don't go hungry, so they can put food on the table, so they don't lose their homes and end up on the streets because of the eviction,” Yellen said.
