Former French President Sarkozy sentenced to 3 years in prison, 2 of which on probation

The court sentenced ex-French President Nicolas Sarkozy to a real term.
The court reportedly found Sarkozy guilty of corruption and trading in influence and sentenced him to three years in prison (one year real and two years suspended).
Earlier, the prosecutor's office requested four years of imprisonment for the former president, two of which were supposed to be suspended.
It is noted that Sarkozy became the first ex-president of France to receive a real prison sentence.
Nicolas Sarkozy was indicted as part of a presidential campaign finance case from Libya. The investigation began after the politician lost the presidential election to François Hollande in 2012, resigned and lost judicial immunity.
Also, the former French president is accused of trying to bribe a judge. Sarkozy promised a good position – in exchange for information about the investigation into the financing of his election campaign. Nicolas Sarkozy denies his guilt.
