Evelyn Farkas, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine, Eurasia and former NATO adviser says that “Putin won’t stop unless he’s stopped in Ukraine,” noting that if Russia wins in Ukraine then it will take control of Georgia.

Speaking for CNN Farkas also said that war is expected to go on “as long as both sides think they can win.”

She stated that Russia is a provocateur, killing innocent people in UKraine, noting that the West is cautious not to escalate the situation.

However, Farkas stated that ‘we can not be so afraid of escalation to rule out actions that would actually help the Ukrainians.’

“So we have to assess the risks carefully, but we have to be prepared to take some risks,” she said.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
