The former Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, responded to current PM Irakli Garibashvili’s letter released on Tuesday and suggested that an episode over him in the letter “was not true.”
In the letter Garibashvili praised the founder of the Georgian Dream ruling party Bidzina Ivanishvili and claimed that several individuals, who had served in Ivanishvili’s Cartu Fund and were unable to withstand the pressure of the United National Movement authorities before the 2012 elections, were offered state posts anyway after the GD defeated the UNM in the race.
“The news of 2011 could be told at length, but this time I will give you a brief answer. The interpretation of the episode of leaving Cartu in the letter is not true, and it is not clear to me what purpose the distortion of history served,” Kvirikashvili said.
In the letter Garibashvili suggested that Ivanishvili “had never interfered” in the government’s activities after he decided to leave politics, and that the tycoon always respected professionals, even those who were unable to stand by him during hard times.
