The recent statement of the imprisoned former deputy head of the State Security Service, Soso Gogashvili, that the current Georgian Dream government is cooperating with Russia, is “alarming”, the United National Movement opposition party MP, Roman Gotsiridze, told Front News on Monday.
According to the letter published by Gogashvili, the authorities had sent the list of Russian spies working under the cover of the diplomatic agency to Moscow, after which they decided to expel another employee from the embassy.
“Over the past 10 years not a single spy has been arrested or even identified. it is an exposure, a kind of repentance, an attempt to atone for one’s sins with a belated confession”, said Gotsiridze.
He stated that the agencies that should be used for the security of the country are working against state interests.
“This is alarming information, it means that the security agency, which is financed with 140 million GEL, its technical equipment, human resources are directed not to ensure the security of the country and to reveal the enemy’s spies, but to the contrary,” said Gotsiridze.
