Fountain, where minors were electrocuted, were checked – Tbilisi City Hall official

Environmental Protection Service head of the Tbilisi City Hall, Giga Gigashvili, said Thursday that a fountain in a newly renovated Vake Park of the Georgian capital, where three minors were electrocuted, with one dying earlier today, was “checked”. 

“It was checked and expertised. We accepted it on the basis of expertise. It was accepted by an accredited expert bureau, whose name I do not remember now,” Gigashvili told reporters after leaving the police department.

According to him, the City Hall employees “systematically cleaned the fountain while both on and off”.

“It was tested and examined, what happened, the investigation will determine. In the morning, the fountain was cleaned and turned on as usual. If it had any problems, it could not be put into operation. It was turned on in test mode several times”, he said. 

The second minor, injured in the incident, is on artificial ventilation, while the condition of the third one is satisfactory.
