Four flights scheduled from Israel to Tbilisi today – Ambassador

Lasha Zhvania, Georgia’s Ambassador to Israel, on Monday said four flights had been scheduled from Israel to Tbillisi later today, amid ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. 

Five flights were made from Tel Aviv to Tbilisi on Sunday, he added. 

“Only one of the planned flights, the Israeli flight, was canceled, among them there were no Georgian citizens who did not have shelter and overnight accommodation. Practically, we managed to send everyone. There is a demand for these flights. As a rule, parents of young children try to avoid this situation. The situation in Israel, in general, is calm, I mean, the center of Israel,” the ambassador clarified.

He noted the Embassy hotline worked round-the-clock. 

The hostilities have been going on since October 7, after the Palestinian radical Islamist movement Hamas launched a massive rocket attack on Israeli cities and invaded the areas bordering the Gaza Strip from the ground.

On October 8, the Israeli government declared martial law.

The escalation of October 2023 is the largest in the conflict between the State of Israel and the Palestinians, which has been ongoing since the middle of the twentieth century and is related to the sovereignty of the territories that at the time were part of the historical region of Palestine.

The attack by Hamas was condemned and Israel was supported by the United States of America, European Union states, Canada, Great Britain, Japan and many other countries.
