Four Georgian citizens who have been illegally arrested by the Russian-controlled occupation forces earlier this week have been released, the Georgian State Security Service says.

The individuals were arrested by the representatives of de facto Tskhinvali near the village of Adzvi, Gori municipality of central Georgia.

The State Security Service says that co-chairs of Geneva International Discussions and international partners have been informed regarding the issue to ensure the release of the people.

“The central Georgian government is using all levers to ensure the release of all Georgian citizens who are currently illegally arrested in the de facto regions of Georgia,” said the State Security Service.

The agency says that Russia carries full responsibility for all illegalities across the occupation line and in the occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
