France to continue sharing military-usable intelligence with Ukraine

France will continue providing Ukraine with intelligence that could be used for military purposes, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced on Thursday. His statement comes after the United States decided to halt sharing such intelligence with Kyiv.

Lecornu emphasized that France’s intelligence services operate independently and will persist in supplying Ukraine with their own intelligence data. He also noted that the UK may face greater challenges in doing so, as it is part of a shared intelligence alliance with the US.

The Financial Times previously reported that Washington’s decision to cut off intelligence sharing could significantly impact Ukraine’s ability to strike Russian targets. Additionally, the Daily Mail suggested that without American intelligence, British Storm Shadow missiles have become “virtually useless” for Ukraine.

The US suspended intelligence-sharing and military aid to Kyiv following a heated exchange between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance at the White House on February 28. However, Trump administration officials have signaled that the ban could be lifted if Ukraine actively participates in the US-led peace process.
