French Ambassador to Georgia, Sheraz Gasri, on Thursday reaffirmed her government’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in response to the recent illegal transfer of land to Russia by de facto Abkhaz authorities.

In a social media post, Gasri stated that France supports Georgia’s sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders and emphasized that any decision undermining Georgia’s territorial integrity, such as the attempt to transfer land in Abkhazia to Russia, is considered illegal, null, and void.

The de facto Parliament in Georgia’s occupied Abkhazia region ratified the transfer of the Bichvinta holiday area to Russia. This transfer includes granting ownership of all constructions on the territory to the Russian Federal Protection Service.
