Raul Kiria, founder of Front News Ukraine and Front News Georgia, has told Guardian’s Jesse Ramdeo that leaving Ukraine alone amid Russia’s move to invade the country will be a “crime against humanity.”

Kiria has told the media outlet that the situation is very tense in Ukraine and that Russia’s occupation forces are trying to invade the whole country.

“Our representatives are currently located in Odessa and Kyiv. People are in panic as from every side and border Russian forces are attacking and they are trying to occupy the whole Ukraine; people are helpless,” Kiria said.

He stressed that the Ukrainian forces are trying their utmost to repulse the attack. However, they will not be able to do so without the firm support of the international community.

“Leaving Ukraine alone in this situation will be a crime against humanity… Every nation in the world who has ambition for democracy must do everything to stop Putin’s aggression so that people can live in peace,” Kiria stated.

Russia moved to invade Ukraine late yesterday following its decision to recognise the country’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions as independent states.

Prior to the aggression, Russia raised demands towards NATO and the US which included the refusal by the alliance to add Georgia and Ukraine as new members in the future.
