US President Donald Trump plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later this week, Financial Times’ chief correspondent in Kyiv, Christopher Miller, reported on Monday.

According to the journalist, the meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy is scheduled to take place in Washington on Friday.

The two leaders held two phone conversations over the weekend, during which they discussed Ukraine’s air defence strengthening efforts, energy sector recovery and other issues related to air defence cooperation.

“I am grateful for your willingness to support us. We discussed opportunities to reinforce our air defence capabilities and the agreements we are preparing in this regard. There are good options and strong ideas on how we can become more resilient,” Zelenskyy said following the talks.

The Ukrainian President last met with Trump on September 23, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, describing that meeting as productive.
