Gamkrelidze: ‘termless’ Covid passport for individuals who recovered from virus may be reviewed

Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze says that he was against the provision of the individuals who recovered from coronavirus with termless Covid green passports. He says that the governmental council, which is composed of 25 representatives from different fields, have made the decision with the majority of votes. 

“We will observe the situation and the decision may be reviewed,” Gamkrelidze said. Covid green passports will come into play in Georgia starting December 1. 

The passports will be available for fully vaccinated individuals, those who have recovered from coronavirus, those with negative PCR test certificates conducted within the last 72 hour and individuals  with negative rapid test results conducted within the last 24 hours.

Georgia has reported 3,201 new cases of coronavirus, 4,098 recoveries and 64 deaths in the last 24 hours which means that daily infections and deaths are still high. 

The new cases for Tbilisi and regions were as follows: 

Tbilisi – 1,383 cases

Imereti – 536 cases

Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 263 cases

Kakheti – 155 cases

Adjara – 141 cases

Guria – 111 cases

Shida Kartli – 244 cases

Kvemo Kartli – 187 cases

Samtskhe-Javakheti – 93 cases

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 28 cases

 

In total 2,112,852 coronavirus vaccine doses were administered in the country so far
