The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE) has assured the public that the recent suspension of its registration by the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) will not impact the international recognition of Georgian diplomas. The center clarified that while it remains a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).
In a statement, the NCEQE clarified that diplomas issued in Georgia have always been recognized abroad, including in EU member states, before and after the center’s EQAR registration in 2019. It also emphasized that its accreditation by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) remains intact and is independent of EQAR or ENQA memberships.
The suspension, stemming from partial compliance with two European Standards and Guidelines (ESG 2015) out of 13, has already been addressed through legislative reforms, the center noted. Officials expressed optimism that the decision is temporary and will be resolved upon appeal.
The NCEQE reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards in education quality assurance, reassuring students, universities, and international partners of its continued reliability.
Earlier on Friday Leading education experts raised alarms over the suspension of Georgia’s membership in EQAR and ENQA. They warned this development could severely undermine the country’s higher education system and international recognition of Georgian diplomas.
