Georgia's Ministry of Education, Science and Youth and Beijing's Centre for Language Education and Cooperation have signed a memorandum aimed at strengthening cooperation in Chinese language education and teacher development.

The document was signed by Georgian Education Minister Givi Mikanadze and the centre's director, Yu Yunfeng, during a ceremony in Beijing.

The agreement provides for support for the professional development of Chinese language teachers in Georgia, the introduction of additional financial support mechanisms, the sharing of educational resources and expertise, and the organisation of joint educational and cultural initiatives.

A joint working group will be established to coordinate cooperation under the partnership and is expected to begin operating in the near future.

During his visit to the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation, Mikanadze toured the institution's facilities and met with its representatives.

The minister was also presented with a Chinese language learning programme that uses artificial intelligence to help students from different countries study the language.

The delegation accompanying Mikanadze included First Deputy Education Minister Levan Girsiashvili, Georgia's ambassador to China Paata Kalandadze, as well as representatives of the ministry and the Georgian embassy.
