Georgia’s Interior Ministry says a Turkish citizen has been arrested on charges related to the illegal import, purchase and possession of large and especially large quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department’s Adjara division, working alongside officials from the Customs Department of the Revenue Service under the Finance Ministry, carried out the operation at the Sarpi border crossing, the ministry said on Monday.

Law enforcement officers discovered several types of narcotic substances during a personal search of the suspect at the customs checkpoint.

Among the substances seized as evidence were Pregabalin and cocaine, the ministry said.
