Azerbaijani citizen arrested at Tbilisi airport for attempting to bring large quantity of narcotics into Georgia

The offences are punishable by up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment

Georgian authorities have arrested an Azerbaijani citizen on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing and importing a particularly large quantity of narcotic and psychotropic substances, the Interior Ministry has announced.
The suspect, identified only as E.A., born in 1988, was detained at Tbilisi International Airport during a customs inspection.
Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department and the Revenue Service’s Customs Department reportedly discovered tablets containing narcotic and psychotropic substances in the passenger’s hand luggage.
The offences are punishable by up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment under Articles 260, 261, 262 and 263 of Georgia’s Criminal Code.
