The Georgian Dream ruling party MP Mamuka Mdinaradze has stated that President Salome Zurabishvili’s move to appear in the state legislature for her annual report today with Andrei Kasyanov, the charge d’affaires of Ukraine in Georgia, without warning was disrespectful to parliament.
“Several media outlets have tried to show that we have expressed protest to the honorable guest which is not right. I have expressed my dissatisfaction as the move was not agreed and it was a violation of procedures,” Mdinaradze said.
During her annual report Zurabishvili raised Ukraine’s issue and criticized MPs.
She said that currently the public is much more sober and conscious than the country’s legislators.
“I do not understand and can not tolerate the fact that today, at this crossroads, instead of ending quarrels,, enmities, destructive confrontations and polarizations, you forgot what is reflected on our coat of arms:” Power is in unity “! The society is much more sober than you, conscious, brave and, most importantly, united,” she said.
Mdinaradze responded that unity with the ‘radical opposition which is trying to drag the country in the war’ is unlikely.
He said that Georgia is standing with Ukraine and the current Georgian government is acting ‘very reasonably’ to prevent the war, noting ‘Glory to Ukraine, Glory to Georgia.’
