The ruling Georgian Dream party MP Mamuka Mdinaradze says that Georgia’s former president Mikheil Saakashvili stayed in a hotel Rixos in Truskavets, a city in western Ukraine, yesterday and he lied when he said that he was in Batumi.

“After the truth has been revealed, Saakashvili may hide,” Mdinaradze says.

He stated that with the ‘fake news’ Saakashvili once again discredited himself and the United National Movement opposition party.

Saakashvili released a video yesterday, claiming he has returned to Georgia ahead of the October 2 municipal elections and ‘put his life at risk’.

The Georgian Interior Ministry and the ruling party officials stated that Saakashvili has not crossed into Georgia.

The UNM has dismissed the reports and said that Saakashvili really returned and will appear in public tomorrow.
