Head of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Irakli Kobakhidze, says that as of now the party is winning 18 of 20 mayoral run-offs, while the candidates of the United National Movement (UNM) oppositio are close to victory in the remaining two constituencies.
“I urge voters to actively participate in the elections not to allow the winning of the evil force, which is only eager to spark tension in the county, in any constituency,” Kobakhidze said.
The ruling party received almost 47 per cent of the vote in the proportional part of the elections on October 2, during the first round of elections, and won 44 of 64 mayoral constituencies.
The party is expecting that they will win all the remaining 20 mayoral constituencies and the vacant seats in City Assemblies.
