Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs Geka Geladze led a high-profile interagency aviation search and rescue exercise on Monday in the coastal town of Chakvi, aimed at enhancing emergency response coordination across multiple state agencies, his office announced on Monday.

The large-scale simulation, organised by the Emergency Situations Management Service, involved a staged emergency landing of a Border Police aircraft near the seashore, followed by a full-scale deployment of rescue operations.

Geladze was joined by Minister for IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection Mikheil Sarjveladze and Chairman of the Government of Adjara Sulkhan Tamazashvili. The event brought together personnel from the Border Police, Patrol and Adjara Police Departments, Emergency Services, 112 Call Centre, and representatives of various ministries and the Red Cross.

Authorities said the goal was to improve interagency cooperation, strengthen information-sharing procedures, and test readiness for aviation-related emergencies involving both water and land rescue operations.

Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs and the heads of participating agencies were also in attendance to evaluate performance and coordination in real time.
