Georgia’s Interior Minister, Geka Geladze, has held a series of working meetings in the Adjara region, focusing on organised crime, public safety and upcoming police projects, the ministry said on Tuesday.

Geladze, accompanied by the First Deputy Minister, met senior officials from the Central Criminal Police Department, who briefed him on ongoing and planned law-enforcement operations targeting organised crime.

According to the ministry’s press service, officials also discussed recent statistical data, which show a significant increase in the detection of drug-related offences and the number of individuals prosecuted compared with the same period last year.

The minister later travelled to Batumi, where he held a separate meeting with the leadership of the Adjara Police Department. Local officials presented detailed updates on crime-prevention measures, public safety initiatives and efforts to maintain law and order in the region.

Geladze, joined by Deputy Minister Giorgi Sakhokia, also visited the Batumi branch of the Ministry’s Service Agency, where he reviewed infrastructure and discussed upcoming projects with agency representatives.

The Interior Minister thanked the department’s employees for their work and contributions to strengthening security across the region.
