Georgia’s Interior Minister, Geka Geladze, has held a series of working meetings with police officials during a visit to the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region in the country’s west.

Geladze was briefed by senior officers on crime trends, prevention measures and the rate of solved cases in the region, the MIA press office said on Friday.

He also inspected facilities of the ministry’s structural units, including the Border Police, Emergency Management Service and the forensic department, reviewing their equipment and working conditions.

During the visit, the minister also met with local police staff, outlining the ministry’s priority areas and thanking them for their service.

The meetings were attended by First Deputy Interior Minister Roland Meskhia, as well as deputy ministers Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and Giorgi Butkhuzi.
