Georgia’s Maritime Security Council meets to review black sea security

Georgia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Geka Geladze chaired a meeting of the Interagency Maritime Security Council at the Joint Maritime Operations Management Center (JMOC).
The Interior Ministry’s press service said the meeting reviewed the center’s activity report and discussed the current situation in the Black Sea, as well as related security issues and risks.
Council members also discussed challenges facing Georgia in light of recent global developments. They outlined the priorities of the Joint Maritime Operations Management Center and reviewed future plans. The council additionally approved the meeting’s regulations and addressed other agenda items.
The meeting was attended by deputy ministers and heads of relevant units from agencies represented in the council, including First Deputy Head of the State Security Service of Georgia Lasha Magradze, Deputy Defense Minister Grigol Giorgadze, Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili, and Head of the Border Police of Georgia David Tamazashvili.
Following the meeting, Geladze and council members visited the Coast Guard base in Poti, where they inspected infrastructure and maritime vessels.
The interior minister also thanked Border Police personnel for their service to the country.
