Georgia’s Interior Minister, Geka Geladze, has held a working meeting with senior officials of the Central Criminal Police Department to review ongoing efforts against organised and drug-related crime.
The meeting on Tuesday, attended by First Deputy Minister Roland Meskhi and the department’s director along with other unit heads, focused on measures to combat the illegal circulation and distribution of drugs. According to the ministry, the number of detected drug offences and prosecutions has risen significantly compared with last year, the MIA press office said.
Discussions also covered actions against organised crime, human trafficking and cybercrime. Officials noted that law enforcement officers had recently solved multiple cases in these categories, leading to the arrest of dozens of suspects.
Minister Geladze thanked police staff for what she described as their “effective work” in tackling crime.
