On January 7, Ukrainian defenders launched a precision strike on a Russian military command post in Russia’s Kursk region, according to a statement released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“This type of attack is part of Ukrainian military operations targeting Russian forces operating on enemy territory,” the statement said. “Ukraine will use all available methods to destroy armed formations that threaten the safety of Ukrainians.”

The recent strike follows another high-precision attack carried out by Ukrainian forces days earlier in the village of Maryino, also in the Kursk region. That operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of two Russian deputy colonels, Valeriy Tereshchenko and Pavel Maletsky.

On January 5, Ukrainian forces resumed offensives in the Kursk region, launching simultaneous operations across several areas, signaling a strategic escalation in efforts to neutralize Russian military threats along the border.

The strikes reflect Ukraine’s ongoing determination to use advanced targeting techniques to weaken Russian command structures and defend its sovereignty amid the continued conflict.
