Gogita Todradze, the chair of Georgia’s National Statistics Office, said on Wednesday that the majority of 7,459 Russian businesses registered in the country over the past five months, with only four of them indicating their activities in their registration, were inactive.

Responding to the opposition’s critical comments, Todradze said that there were about 800,000 companies registered in Georgia, with only 200,000 of them operational.

Todradze said that if the Russian companies began operations, the agency would be aware of their activities.

The Georgian opposition has called on the Government to take steps not to allow Russians to visit the country in large numbers or to register  businesses in the country on the background of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
