Georgia has exported catalytic converters removed from the vehicles in the country worth $98 million over the past nine years, the Georgian revenue service confirmed in an answer to opposition lawmaker Mikheil Daushvili.

The majority of the catalytic converters were exported from Georgia in 2021, amounting to 31 million dollars, followed by 2020 with exports at 16.9 million dollars.

The cost of the devices that change harmful compounds from an engine’s emissions into safe gasses, is determined by the non-ferrous metals it contains, including palladium, rhodium and platinum.
