Georgia receives $110.9mln in remittances from Russia in August

Remittances to Georgia from abroad amounted  $334.3 million in August 2022, which was a 63.1 percent increase compared to the same period of the last year, with Russia on top of the list with $110.9 million, the National Bank of Georgia said on Thusrady. 

 

Italy and the United States followed Russia on the list with the remitamnces worth $36.59 million and $29.21 million consequently. 

 

The bank siad that the 97.8 percent of all money transfers came from 25 countries, which included European Union member states, Italy, Greece, Germany, Spain, France, Poland, Ireland, Cyprus, Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, the United States of America, Israel, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Belarus, Azerbaijan, United Kingdom, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Canada, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates.During last month, $29.5 million was transferred abroad from Georgia, which is 7.6 percent more compared to $27.4 million in January 2021.
