Georgia handed the final part of its answers to the EU membership questionnaire on Tuesday. The answers to all, more than 2,800 questions, comprised seven volumes, Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili has told EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell.

“We are pleased to present the answers to the questionnaire. We have completed the filling, handing a total of seven volumes. We are looking forward to  hearing a decision of the European Commission and the member states,” Garibashvili said.

Hartzell noted that the questionnaire will “greatly assist” the European Commission in making its assessment which is expected in June.

“Mr. Prime Minister, I am grateful to be here and to receive the results of your and many other people’s  hard work in the second and final section of the questionnaire, `Hartzell said.

Georgia presented the final part ahead of schedule which was May 13.

The political and economic part of the questionnaire which Georgia received on April 11 included 369 questions, while the final, sectoral part came with more than 2,500 questions.

Georgia applied for EU membership on March 3.

The questionnaire will be used by the EU to decide whether or not to grant Georgia a candidate country status.
