Giorgi Janjgava, Georgia’s Ambassador to Turkey, on Wednesday announced that additional African country had decided to cover Georgia diplomatically from Ankara, increasing the total number of such countries to 40.

“This is a momentous occasion,” said Ambassador Janjgava. “Just a few years ago, only half as many countries covered Georgia from Ankara. This growth highlights the increasing importance of Turkey’s capital as a diplomatic center for Georgia.”

Currently, 39 countries conduct their diplomatic relations with Georgia from Ankara, he said, adding Georgia’s embassy in Ankara managed diplomatic relations with five other countries, underscoring Ankara’s strategic role in Georgian diplomacy.

“Considering these developments, it’s clear that Ankara is a crucial diplomatic hub for Georgia,” added Janjgava.
