Georgia’s election administration alerts on “attempted disruption” of election process

Georgia’s election administration on Tuesday warned about an “organized effort” by a political entity to “undermine” the October 26 parliamentary elections.

Spokesperson Natia Ioseliani reported that 15 nearly identical complaints were submitted, targeting the decisions of precinct election commissions.

The complaints, she said, varying only in district names and signatories, allegedly aimed to spread “unfounded accusations of bias” and “disrupt the election process” by “artificially inflating the number of complaints”.

Ioseliani noted the tactic mirrored those used in the 2020 elections and was intended to “damage trust” in the election administration.

However, she claimed the CEC was committed to conducting the elections “in line with international standards” and would address “all complaints according to the law”.
