About 200 foreign journalists, bloggers and influencers arrived in Georgia’s western Imereti region on Friday as part of the Wizz Air Airline project – Get Lost with Wizz Air, with its participants having no  beforehand knowledge of the host country.

The visitors are scheduled to visit the region’s landmarks, protected areas, cultural heritage sites, vinieris and other attractions between August 26-28,which is seen to promote the country’s tourism potential.

Kutaisi, the main city of the Imereti region, was involved in this project as a result of the cooperation of the destination management organisation of Imereti – DMO Imereti and Europe’s fastest growing, low-cost airline Wizz Air, in particular its subsidiary Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.
Competing with leading European cities, Kutaisi had won the right to implement the project.

The Georgian tourism authorities and the project organisers suggested that “such a large-scale information tour is being held  for the first time in Georgia”.

“The aim of the project is to promote the region in the countries of the Middle East. The project envisages the filming of various videos about the Imereti region which will be placed on international media platforms, along with descriptions, and will be shared by the project participants whose total number of subscribers is about 30 million people”, said  DMO Imereti.

It stressed that the “tour will further raise the awareness of the Imereti region in the Middle East”.
