Georgia’s Imereti region sends 1st portion of humanitarian aid to Ukraine amounting to 40 tons

Georgia’s western Imereti region will send its first portion of humanitarian aid to Ukraine today, amounting to 40 tons amid the Russian invasion of the country.
The humanitarian cargo was collected through the region, with the region authorities claiming that the move will be repeated.
“Today, the first part of humanitarian aid is being sent from Imereti for the Ukrainian people. This is about 40 tons of cargo.Georgia stands by Ukraine and supports it in all international platforms,” said Zviad Shalamberidze, State Representative in the Imereti region.
As part of the humanitarian action, organized by the administration of the State Representative’s Office in Imereti, first aid items, medicines, non-perishable products, hygiene items, sweets and clothes have been collected.
All 12 municipalities of the region have been involved in the activity, both individuals and the private sector.
According to the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia, with the involvement of the State Representative of the Region and the Department of Relations with the Regions of the Government, more than 100 tons of humanitarian aid has been collected throughout Georgia to help the Ukrainian people. The cargo will be sent to Ukraine today.
