Georgia’s National Food Agency inspects catering facilities in Black Sea resorts

The National Food Agency of Georgia on Monday said it had conducted inspections on approximately 150 catering establishments in the Black Sea resorts, uncovering critical inconsistencies in 10 of them.

The agency said im the 10 facilities  production processes were halted until they resolved the non-conformities.

“In the resort zones, to protect the health and rights of the local population and vacationers, the control of public catering facilities is actively underway,” said the agency.

Inspectors were rotating through cafes, restaurants, hotel food blocks, bakeries, and fast food establishments in the tourist-heavy regions of Guria and Adjara. This included locations such as Ureki, Kobuleti, Batumi, Gonio, Kvariati, Sarpi, and mountainous Adjara. So far, state control has been exercised over around 150 business operators, the agency noted. 

The inspections focused on food dates, labeling, storage and sales conditions, sanitary-hygienic norms, and traceability.
