Georgia’s PM has appointed two new members to the cabinet

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced the appointment of two new members of the Cabinet.

As Garibashvili said at a government meeting, Rati Bregadze, who previously held the post of Deputy Defense Minister, was appointed Minister of Justice. Lasha Khutsishvili, who has been the deputy head of the department since 2014, became the head of the Ministry of Finance.

Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani announced his resignation the day before. He did not indicate the reason for the resignation, but said that he planned to resign at the end of last year.

The head of the Ministry of Justice, Gocha Lortkipanidze, was elected a judge of the International Criminal Court last year. In March, he took the oath of office in the Hague court, and after resigning from the post of minister, he will take up his duties.
