Georgia’s ruling party, Georgian Dream, on Wednesday rejected reports claiming an internal confrontation involving its chairman and former Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, amid ongoing protests against the Government’s decision to postpone the EU accession talks.

The party issued a statement labeling the information as disinformation and an attempt to mislead the public.

The GD claimed Garibashvili injured his shoulder during a workout and required only minor medical attention.

The party emphasized the reports, alleging he was taken to an American hospital with multiple injuries and involved in a physical altercation within the party, were “entirely false”.

“These are lies spread by media outlets and parties controlled by the radical opposition”, the GD claimed.
