Georgia to host World Tourism Day celebrations in 2024

Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Zurab Pololikashvili, on Friday announced in 2024 the World Tourism Day would be celebrated in Georgia.

Following the European Commission session in Sofia, Bulgaria, he noted all 38 countries supported the decision, noting the main theme of Tourism Day will be “Peace and Tourism”.

“The World Tourism Day has been celebrated for more than 30 years and it is held every year on different continents. Next was Europe and the European Commission made a decision to celebrate the next World Tourism Day in Georgia. This is a very large-scale event in which quite large delegations from countries across the world participate. I would like to thank the Government of Georgia for taking this great responsibility and for this very important initiative,” said Pololikashvili.

In the 68th session of the European Commission of the United Nations World Tourism Organization held in Bulgaria, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, the head of the National Tourism Administration Maia Omiadze and the first deputy head of the administration Tamar Koriauli participated from the Georgian side.
