The Interior Ministry said Kordzaia was charged with disobeying police orders

A Georgian court has sentenced activist Albi Kordzaia to 12 days in administrative detention following her arrest during protests in central Tbilisi on 2 September.

Kordzaia was among 24 demonstrators detained on Rustaveli Avenue as they protested against the findings of a parliamentary investigative commission, which opposition groups had described as lacking legitimacy and “aligned with Russian interests”.

The Interior Ministry said Kordzaia was charged with disobeying police orders.

This is the third time the activist has been jailed under administrative law, each instance linked to her participation in protests. Kordzaia said she suffers from health problems and may require hospitalisation after serving her sentence.
