34-year-old Georgian alpinist Archil Badriashvili tragically lost his life in an accident on Shkhelda Peak in the Caucasus Mountains last week.

Reports indicate that a bolt of lightning struck him, leading to the fatal incident.

The accident occurred on Saturday. The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Sunday that three other mountaineers were rescued from the peak unharmed, while the search for Badriashvili continued.

Badriashvili was a seasoned alpinist, known for his significant achievements. In 2021, he, along with Bakar Gelashvili and Giorgi Tepnadze, successfully climbed one of the previously unconquered peaks in the northwestern part of Saragrar.
