Georgian and Malaysian Parliament Speakers discuss strengthening ties in Geneva

Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili met with Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of the Lower House of the Malaysian Parliament, on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva.
The two sides highlighted the growing relationship between Georgia and Malaysia, with special emphasis on enhancing interparliamentary cooperation. Both speakers expressed readiness to deepen ties at the legislative level.
They also discussed opportunities for expanding economic, trade, tourism, and educational collaboration, and touched upon potential cooperation within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Speaker Abdul expressed hope that a Georgian parliamentary delegation would participate in the upcoming ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Assembly to be held in Malaysia this September.
Papuashvili congratulated Malaysia on assuming the chairmanship of AIPA and wished the country a successful term.
Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze also took part in the conference alongside Papuashvili.
