Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream ruling party, on Tuesday predicted a potential pre-election move by President Salome Zourabichvili next year.

Kobakhidze hinted at a high likelihood that Zurabishvili might resign from her position one or two months before the parliamentary elections and actively participate in the upcoming electoral campaign.

Responding to questions about Zurabishvili’s potential role in the election, Kobakhidze acknowledged the prevailing political circumstances. He remarked, “today’s picture dictates this very logic.

There is a very high probability that one or two months before the parliamentary elections, Zourabichvili will resign and take part in the parliamentary elections, although everyone knows very well what this person’s rating is in reality, and therefore, what are the chances of her contributing to the strengthening of the collective United National Movement”.

Kobakhidze and the officials in the current Government label the UNM as the “radical opposition”.
