Georgian economy minister: Turkey invests $1.7 billion in Georgia in 15 years

Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava says that more than 1.7 billion USD has been invested in Georgia by Turkey between 2005 and 2020. 

 

She made the statement during a recent meeting with Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Mus in Baku, on the sidelines of Georgia-Turkey-Azerbaijan business forum. 

 

Turnava noted that the Turkish investments amounted to 75.55 million USD in the first three quarters of 2021 alone, which is 107% more compared to the same period of 2020.

 

More than 5.6 million Turkish tourists have visited Georgia between 2015 and 2020, while 261,289 visitors arrived in Georgia from the country in the first ten months of 2021, Turnava said. She stated that  bilateral trade between Georgia and Turkey has increased by 30% in the first 10 months of 2021, while export to Turkey has increased by 66% in the same period. Turnava stated that exports of agricultural products have increased by 24%, while exports of industrial products have increased by 84%.
