Georgian Education Ministry staff condemn Gov’t EU policy, reaffirm commitment to European integration

Employees of Georgia’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs, along with associated institutions, have issued a joint statement opposing the government’s decision to halt EU accession talks until 2028. The statement criticizes the move as contrary to the country’s strategic interests and in violation of the Constitution’s Article 78, which obligates state institutions to promote Georgia’s integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

The employees highlighted their dedication to building a European-style education system, fostering equality, competitiveness, and high standards for students and researchers. They stressed that Georgia’s alignment with European norms is vital for strengthening democracy, legal systems, and social progress.

“We believe that the decision to remove EU negotiations from the agenda until 2028 contradicts the national interest we have tirelessly served. We reaffirm our unwavering support for Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic course,” the statement reads.
