The National Food Agency of Georgia has launched recalling of some chocolate from the market, including Kinder, over Salmonella concerns
Hundreds of cases of salmonella have been reported in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium and other countries, especially in children under 10 years of age, most likely due to the contamination of various Ferrero-produced Kinder chocolate products with Salmonella Typhimurium.
In this regard, various chocolates have been recalled from markets of different countries, sales were banned and consumers were informed.
The National Food Agency of Georgia says that it has received a notification about the possible presence of Salmonella in various chocolate products through the RASFF system of the European Commission, Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE).
“The agency immediately started procedures for detecting and recalling specific batches, informed the importing companies about the suspicious batches, and instructed them the chocolate product (brand: Uovo Maxi, description: KSOR MAXI; K2,5X12 PC CHR RUS 2 production date 15.10.2021, expiration date 12.07. 2022, removal of the party № L288R03) to be recalled from sale,” said the agency.
The agency inspectors have also been tasked to conduct unscheduled inspections and oversight of these chocolate importing business operators.
