The Georgian government on Friday said it had allocated one million GEL in support of victims of Turkey’s deadly quake that killed at least 18,342 in the country.

The government administration said the country’s health ministry would purchase medicines, food, clothes, medical equipment and other necessities with the funds and send them to the affected people.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday also signed the book of condolences opened at the Turkish embassy in Tbilisi following the disaster.

“I would like to express our sincere sympathy and condolences to the Turkish people and the families who lost their dear ones. We wish all the best and a speedy recovery to those injured in this tragedy”, he said.

In the latest figures, the quake on Monday has killed over 21,000 in Turkey and Syria.
