The Georgian government on Tuesday sent more than 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Turkey that includes first aid supplies, medicines, medical equipment, baby food, supplies for emergency personnel, uniforms, warm clothes, tents, generators, sleeping bags, dry food, canned food and other necessities, the Georgian Health Ministry said.
The body was instructed on Friday to use the one million GEL allocated from the government’s reserve fund to purchase the items and send them to the neighboring country in the aftermath of February 6 devastating quake.
The earthquake has killed more than 37,000 in Turkey and Syria, with more than 31,000 killed in Turkey alone.
Hundred Georgian rescuers have also been sent to the country to ensure aid in search and rescue efforts.
