Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday announced financial rewards for Georgian athletes winning medals at the upcoming Olympic Games. In a speech at the farewell ceremony for the country’s Olympians, Kobakhidze detailed the incentives, which amounts to one million GEL for gold medalists, 500,000 GEL for silver medalists, and 250,000 GEL for bronze medalists.

“This year, one million GEL will be allocated by the Georgian government for Olympic champions, 500,000 GEL for silver medalists, and 250,000 GEL for bronze medalists. While I am confident that you do not need additional motivation to fight for the championship, this support will likely boost your motivation,” said Kobakhidze.

He also emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to Georgian sports, promising that support for athletes will increase annually. “On behalf of the Georgian government, I assure you that our support for Georgian sports, Olympians, and the Olympic team will continue to grow year by year. I wish you great success at the Olympic Games,” Kobakhidze added.
